Fotopic.net offline? Alternatieve websites?

Zijn er meer medeforumleden die ruimte hebben op Fotopic.net en merken dat die site al vele dagen offline is?
Ik kan zo niet meer mijn foto's aan anderen laten zien...

Ben dus op zoek naar andere (meer betrouwbare!) sites waar ik mijn foto's online kan plaatsen.

Ja ook mijn bescheiden webstek ligt eruit. Ik ben wat wezen googlen, maar word er niet wijzer van (wat er met fotopic.net aan de hand is).

On 2 August 1999, the website named photos.jml.net began as a private collection of photographs of a British couple, Joel and Nicky Rowbottom.

By February 2001, the picture engine was transferred to fotopic.net and internet users could access the database and create a picture account.

In May 2008, Fotopic.net was acquired by Snappy Designs Ltd which in turn is owned by ANY-Web Group.[1]

Since then, some users have claimed the service to be unreliable with frequent service drop-outs and poor communications.

Around March 8, 2011, the servers were taken offline. There has been speculation on various online discussion groups[2], as well as Twitter, that Fotopic, and its ultimate owner, may have ceased trading. This is further supported by the fact that, to date, no official statements or replies to requests have been received or published by the owners.

Bij fotopic.net staat de vermelding “in liquidation”.

Het lijkt er dus op dat fotopic.net failliet is.

Ik hoop dat mijn foto's binnenkort toch eens beschikbaar komen...

Ik heb vandaag een email van Fotopic.net ontvangen dat de website tijdelijk beschikbaar is om foto's van te downloaden.
Om overbelasting te voorkomen wordt gebruikers in aphabetische volgorde uitgenodigd.
Op dit moment zijn ze bij de letter G.

We are contacting you as a former user of http://www.Fotopic.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; As you are probably aware Snappy Designs Ltd, the company running Fotopic.net, went into liquidation in 2011.
The assets of the company were bought by a private buyer in the hope of resuscitating Fotopic and integrating it into their photo portal.

Subsequently this was found to be too costly an operation to set up and run. We reluctantly abandoned our plans but were aware that users still had photographs on the site of which they had no copies.

For technical reasons it has taken us a while to get Fotopic operational again. We have only opened up Fotopic to allow existing users to view and download their pictures.
Once this process is completed the site will be shut down again. So if you have images you want to retrieve please download them soon.
